Our Curriculum

We follow the National Curriculum and Assessment Policy (CAPS); which is a single, comprehensive, and concise policy document implemented by the Department of Basic Education for all the subjects listed in the National Curriculum Statement for Grades R to Grade 12. CAPS provides detailed guidance for teachers on what they should teach and how to assess. Not only does the CAPS curriculum allow our teachers to focus more on each learner’s individual education and development plan, but it also empowers us to adapt the assessments and make accommodations for all our learners’ specific needs. We supplement the CAPS curriculum by implementing an Individual Educational Developmental Plan (IEDP) for each learner. This additional intervention aids learners in areas of development in which they may have some difficulty and is done in collaboration with the CAPS curriculum.

We aim to provide a holistic and multisensory approach to teaching by including a gross motor development program. Edu-Kinetics forms part of our curriculum and is included in our school fees. Our kineticists are highly qualified and registered with the South African Professional Institute for Kinder Kinetics (SAPIK). They are educated and trained in analysing motor skill development, support technique correction, and to determine and support each child’s ability to cope with the demands of the curriculum and everyday life.

Our curriculum aims to develop each learner’s cognitive abilities, communication skills, social interactions and relationships, and fine and gross motor skills, as well as supporting them with regulation of their behaviour and emotions.

Our teachers also provide individual remedial classes for our learners after school to further support our learners’ development and education.
